Can I just say I thoroughly enjoyed the funeral service today? Mark had to work this morning so I gather together the kids with quiet things to do in hand and settle down in front of the TV to remember the great man that is Gordon B. Hinckley. I wasn't sure the kids would listen and get much out of it. As the kids were drawing, pasting, stenciling, stamping, Lauren gives me yet another card she has made and says she wants to send it to President Hinckley's family. The rest of the cards were for me as usual. At the time she gave me this one card, Virginia Pearce was speaking. I believe Lauren was listening and was touched by Virginia's words about her father. The kids were pretty good through the whole service and I saw them stop and look up at the TV and listen from time to time. The service was beautiful and I loved hearing about his life and being reminded of all the great things he has done. After the service, while some "older" men were sharing their memories of President Hinckley, Lauren says, "My face doesn't look like theirs. Yours does. You have dots and lines like them." Yes, I'm getting old. But I'm fine with it because I got to live in a time when President Hinckley was the prophet. It makes me sad to think my kids will not remember him as I will. They did not get to feel the great love that constantly emanated from him. If they felt it, they probably won't remember. I am grateful for him and his love, service and example. I am especially grateful for being a member of this church where we are guided by prophets of God.

He was so special. I hope my older two will remember him, but I'm sure Kennedy won't! He really was a special man.

That was beautiful. I feel the same way. When Seth and I were talking after he passed, I told him I was saddened to think my kids won't know him like I do. I truly loved President Hinckley and he truly was a man of God!

Hey there. I just noticed a message on Natalee F's site that you said Mark was cousins with the bass in Insideout!! That's funny. We've gone to like 3 concerts of theirs when they are in Mesa. Too bad they don't come anymore!! I love those guys!! I've been a fan for 8 or so years!!
