This post is all about Lauren. Excuse me while I brag a bit, that's what mothers do right?
I remember in a post about Lauren's Kindergarten graduation last year how I pointed out that though Lauren was smart, she never really applied herself to school work. She was more into the social aspect of school. This year she has really run with academics.
Lauren's teacher needed to pick one boy and one girl to attend an Author's Workshop. Lauren is doing so well in writing that she was picked. Now she is the only kid of mine that I DON'T have to bug to do writing so I knew she enjoyed it but I haven't been paying too much attention to what she writes. While thinking about this I have noticed how she chooses fun words in speaking so I'm sure it is translating.
Example: Most kids her age would say, "They would like more of such and such."...Lauren chooses words like, "I would like a bit of such and such", or "I was a bit scared."
Another Example: When talking about not liking the bits of mushroom in the rice most kids would say something like, "I just eat around the mushrooms."...Lauren says, "I just dodge the mushrooms."
She is so fun to listen to and she is very expressive. It's fun watching her blossom in something other than friends.
Way to go Lauren!

She is so adorable Karen!
Cool! I'm glad she finding her own way! :)
That is SO exciting!!! I bet you are so proud of her. How fun it is to see your child's gift unfold. Tell Lauren "good job" from me (if she remembers me! -gasp!) I love the picture of her, too. Beautiful.
That is very exciting! Us Moms worry about our kids and then they just blossom and we're left surprised relieved! I find so much happiness and excitement seeing my kids learn and grow. Abree was also chosen in her class to go to the Author's Convention. She LOVES to write and I am amazed at how well she can express herself. She did not want to go, though. I was bummed, but I didn't want to push her. She gets REALLY shy reading her work in front of people she doesn't know. Is Lauren going?
