A Christmas to Remember

Our kids are getting older and really don't need anymore toys.  What was on their wish lists this year (other than toys) ...Phones, ipads, computers, etc.  Not in the budget.  So we sat down as a family and discussed options for Christmas.  We could give them money with some stipulations on how it could be spent, go on a trip together and make some memories or spend that money on others in need.

The kids chose a trip.  Obviously Arizona was too far and too expensive.  On the top of the list was Canada and San Francisco.  As Christmas drew closer Great Wolf Lodge put out some amazing deals.  The kids ended up choosing Great Wolf Lodge.

We've been before but not for a few years.  It was just as fun as always.  The kids were old enough to be trusted doing most activities on their own which allowed Mark and I to really relax.  It was great!

Made it!

Kenny going down a slide.
Carley and I riding with the double tube.

I wish I could have gotten a video going down the tornado but I didn't trust myself with not losing the camera as it is an intense, "hold on with all your might" ride.

Playing the new interactive wand game.

Brace yourself for this announcement...

Mark read a book!!!

This is our view from our room window looking at the water slides.

The kids honestly thought they were not getting anything else so they were surprised on Christmas Eve to find a present for them when we came back from dinner.  Christmas Jammies!!!  We don't usually do Christmas Jammies so they were excited.

Santa did find us and leave stockings as well.

Unfortunately, Lauren also woke up to another surprise...the throw-ups.  She was just at the end of the "throw-up" portion of the sickness when it was time to drive home.  We made it home with no problems and just relaxed for the rest of Christmas day.  Mark, Kenny and Carley did go over to a friends house for a delicious Christmas dinner.

And the best present, aside from the Great Wolf Lodge trip, is the plane tickets to Arizona at the end of January. Thank you Jordan and Mandy!  I guess we get to go to Arizona after all!!!  Gotta love frequent flyer miles.  :)

OH my gosh, what fun!! We also are getting to that point where it's just the best present to do something together! What a great place to go! I am totally impressed by the waterslide videos!!! That is AWESOME!!! I need to do that! :) Sorry about the throw-ups (poor thing!), but I'm glad it didn't get passed through the family, either. What a great Christmas! And I'm glad you got AZ tickets, too! That's awesome. :)

What fun! Our princess got the flue AND strep the 26th. Not fun, but kids are tough and they will remember the fun stuff and laugh about the other later in life!
