Lauren comes in whining because Carley stepped on her toy bunny on purpose. This is a small hard toy so I immediately think of Carley's foot. I ask Lauren if Carley's foot is OK because that must have hurt. I can see that Lauren is starting to get upset about my question and that I was more concerned about Carley's foot then about Carley trying to make Lauren mad by stepping on her toy. Lauren looks up at me with a big pouty face and says, "Well, it really hurt my bunny too." I try to seem sympathetic and say, "Why don't you kiss the bunny to make it feel better?" She looks at me with a stunned face and says, "ew, I can't kiss it...it's just a toy!!!"

I love that photo! It's hard sometimes to catch that spunky side that you alone get to see almost every hour of every day.
