Music Informances

Instead of having music performances at the end of the year, family is invited to come to school during the kids normal music time for a music informance...a chance for us to see what they do in music class. Kenny's was first. He has the best music teacher!!! He teaches them many different activities/games that incorporate singing, rhythm and so much more. All the kids enjoy him. First up is a video of one of the songs they did. I would think it would be uncomfortable to do this one for the boys but they look like they were having fun. After the kids did the song they had some of the grown ups join in. I got to be a lucky participate and it was fun! They also played the marimbas. Kenny got to teach me his part so I could play it too. I don't know about everyone else, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Carley's class played out the "Rumble in the Jungle" book. They did well for being kindergartners. The boy sitting to Carley's right in the video, your left, is her best friend...boyfriend if you ask her. They do everything together in school and are so fun to watch. While watching this video, remember that there was a time when Carley would have NEVER stood up in front of a group and said a line or two. She did great and was not nervous at all. Only 6 kids went to the microphone to deliver lines. She was one that actually volunteered!

Video would not load...I'll have to try again later.

Music informances are probably my favorite part of the WHOLE YEAR at Illahee!! I could not agree more with what you said about the fantastic teacher--he makes everything fun and they learn a lot. My oldest was like Carley and would NEVER do stuff (especially sing) by himself, and so I was always amazed to go to informances and see what Mr. H. had gotten him to do. It was SO FUN to watch. :) I love the part at the end of Kenny's video where he's holding his head! LOL

We love Mr. H! He was Miranda's music teacher at Illahee. We were really sad when we moved to Columbia Valley. I remember going to a music informance for Miranda when she was in 4th grade. They are really fun!
