This was Kenny's first pinewood derby and he of course choose to make a Star Wars' ship . . . more specifically the Imperial Star Cruiser. It was not a winner, in fact, it failed miserably. He did win an award for most original car. Kenny had a lot of fun and really liked his car, but next year he says he wants to make one that goes fast . . . he doesn't really care how it looks.
3 wards were involved in the derby so it was pretty chaotic. It didn't last as long as I thought it would and all the kids had tons of fun. They had an old track for the younger kids to play with among other toys and coloring pages. The girls wore themselves out. Overall it was a great night and a fun welcome for Kenny as it was his first cub scout activity.

Kenny is so dang smart!! I could see him being some specialized surgeon or something making the big bucks!
i am so thankful we are FINALLY done with the pine wood derby...glad he had fun....
I hear ya. After competing with that bishop's kid every year :) , we gave up on trying to make a fast car. We are so non-pinewood derby fast making car people....
