Kenny is in an accelerated learning program called EXCEL. He goes to a different school on Thursday and studies different segments through out the school year. Last night they had a culmination night where the families got to see all the things the EXCEL kids have been learning for the last few months. The subject has been Greece. Each student picked a Grecian God to represent. They stood around the room so the families good roam around and listen to each student talk about the God they choose. Kenny choose Cronus - a God who killed his father so he could rule. He feared his children would overthrow him so he swallowed them when they were born. When his wife had Zeus, she gave Cronus a stone wrapped in a blanket and Cronus swallowed it thinking it was the baby. When Zeus grew up, he kicked his father which made him throw up his children. Kenny was very animated telling this story over and over to the roaming families.

Later we got to sample Greek food that us families brought in. The girls didn't have fun but we made the most of it. I learned more about Greek Gods then I ever thought I would.

Here is a picture of some of the projects Kenny has done during this study session. He also did group projects like a wall mural and a huge shield. If was fun to see why Kenny loves Thursday so much. They been having lots of fun. I never took a picture but at Christmas time they made gingerbread houses modeled after Grecian buildings with columns and such. They also had a Grecian Olympic Day!

Wow that is so cool! It reminds me of Edu-Prize how we studied something different each quarter, like "Masters Mansion" (the masters in music, art, and architecture), Oceanography, Piggy Bank (economics), Magnetism, etc. I absolutely loved it.
That's really cool! Go Kenny!
Oh! Congrats on 5lbs!
Yes, congrats on the 5 lbs. IF I had a scale I'd join you! Ha!
Tell Kenny he looks great as a Greek God!
That is so cool. I am sure the schools are so much better there. What a little smartie! I am sure he could do whatever he wants when he grows up.
Isn't pull-out EXCEL so much fun?!? Preston loved it when he was in 2nd grade. (He went full-time in 3rd.) Anyway, I love the pictures. The whole evening sounds so fun. :)
